The group was formed in 1981 when Betty Bint and some local residents, interested in preserving the history of the area, wanted to make secure a collection of photographs, books and other printed material.  An agreement with the Tasman District Council to house the collection in the district library allowed anyone interested in researching family and local history access to this material.

We meet at 2pm on the fourth Tuesday each month (excluding January, June and December) in the Holy Trinity Church Hall – 27 Dorset Street, Richmond except when our programme involves a visit to a place of historical interest.
