The Nelson branch of the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association (NZDA) was formed in post war New Zealand, with meetings on a bi-monthly basis and a member base now in the hundreds!
Nelson is situated in the heart of some of New Zealand’s best hunting including the Cobb Valley, Nelson Lakes and Marlborough.
From Nelson our members have access to a variety of game including chamois, wild pigs, red deer, fallow deer, goats, rabbits and possums.
We are a happy, friendly and easily approachable club with a passionate and focused committee.
Nelson NZDA branch meetings are generally held every month on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Meetings are held from 7.30pm at the Fish and Game building on Champion Road, Richmond with supper around 9pm.
All meetings aim to introduce new members and we endeavour to provide a mix of activities to keep the evenings interesting to a range of members and hunters skill levels. Our meetings have focused on providing an entertainment slot combined with a technical session.
Come along and see for yourself!
Red Deer Lodge
Nelson branch of New Zealand Deerstalkers’ Association owns and uses Red Deer Lodge at St Arnaud, close to Lake Rotoiti and makes the facilities available for hire to the public.
The Lodge can accommodate 28 guests in 5 bunkrooms and has a spacious kitchen and communal lounge with an impressive riverstone fireplace.
The facilities are well suited for training courses, youth groups or a base for tramping and hunting trips. It has been used by school groups, church groups, family reunions and the occasional wedding over the years.
