The Nelson Aero Club was formed on 28 September 1932 and has had over 85 years of operation. The Aero Club first operated from what is now Saxton Field and moved to the airport site in the late 1930’s, although activity ceased during the Second World War. The club has occupied different buildings on the airport site until finally moving to the current hangar in February 1996. The club has an excellent safety record and our aircraft are maintained within strict CAA requirements.
The Nelson Aero Club provides high level flight training in a friendly environment that welcomes pilots of all abilities.
The club offers flight training towards PPL and CPL licences including night ratings and aerobatic ratings. The club has a Young Eagles programme in place that helps introduce aviation to younger people, aged between 12-18. We also offer private hire in a variety of Cessna aircraft.
Nelson is regarded as the sunshine capital of New Zealand which means we get plenty of opportunity to fly throughout the year. See our website for more details or contact us directly through the links below.
We look forward to hearing from you!
