Nau mai, haere mai; welcome. If you or someone you care about has cancer, we’re here to help. We offer support to you and your whānau through a cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as rehabilitation and support after treatment.  We cover the wider Nelson Tasman region, over to Golden Bay, Nelson Lakes and Murchison, as well as Rai Valley.

Our services are free and confidential. Our Support Coordinator Cyndy can help with providing cancer information, navigating health services, referral to counselling, organising a support grant to ease financial stress, as well as general support. We also offer assistance to get to hospital appointments, and rehabilitative yoga and gym programmes. We have regular support groups which meet around the region, as well as a family activity each school holidays. There’s lots we can help with, so get in touch!

Cancer prevention is a significant focus for the society. Their health promotion initiatives encompass lending shade marquees and umbrellas to non-profit groups during the summer, promoting healthy habits in schools, advocating for a smoke-free environment, and distributing 1000 free skin check vouchers annually. 

We have several major fundraising events during the year, including Relay for Life, Daffodil Day, Historical Homes tour and our annual Cancer Society Ball. All proceeds raised stay within the Nelson and Tasman regions. We receive no government funding, so your donations are very important for our fundraising efforts for the local community.

Dedicated volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the Cancer Society team. They contribute by volunteering as drivers, assembling patient information packages, engaging in creative and craft activities, and assisting in fundraising events. The recently introduced Home Visitor Service has been highly successful as well. We welcome volunteers to get involved with both our fundraising activities, as well as our support services.
