Description Family Drug Support Aotearoa: Steps to Success Programme Family Drug Support Aotearoa is a New Zealand wide organisation set up to support family/whānau and friends impacted by the alcohol and other drug misuse of people they care about. We now have an accredited practitioner working out of Victory Community Centre who is providing a Steps to Success programme for family/whānau members. Our aim is to provide support based on science, compassion and human rights. Steps to Success – Maahiranga ki te Angitu The 5-Step Method The Steps to Success programme, which incorporates the 5-Step Method, is a brief intervention for family/whānau members who are supporting a loved one with alcohol or drug misuse. The programme provides opportunities to reflect on the impact the alcohol or other drug using relative is having on them and the wider family/whānau. An accredited practitioner works one-one-one with family/whānau members providing a confidential, caring and empathetic opportunity to develop practical strategies for better coping and support. We regularly hear stories from alcohol and other drug mis-users who tell us that if it wasn’t for the continued support and belief of their family/whānau, partners, parents, siblings, they might not have made it. This programme has been running in many countries and is culturally inclusive. Cost of the course is $80 which includes resources and a handbook. If the cost is a barrier for you please contact us to discuss options. “I am totally, totally grateful for this programme. I am feeling empowered through the knowledge gained. The programme was clear and easy to understand. I can better understand my place on this journey.” - Kate “The one on one therapy is professional, yet caring and friendly. It works on me as well as significant others I’m dealing with. This course is a fantastic resource for learning and understanding about current drug use. I think this course is really helpful.” - Joanne For more information about Family Drug Support Aotearoa visit our website www.fds.org.nz or call 0800 FDSupport (337877) Tab Images Images A Picture Speaks 1000 Words You may include your Organisation’s Logo or an alternative image in the online FOUND Directory.
