Every Tuesday from 10.45am to 11.45am at Saxton Stadium you will see an enthusiastic group of all aged people taking part in this modified version of netball. Walking Netball is for anyone who still wants to keep active, enjoys the game without the worry of having to run or jump. New mums, parents, grandparents – it is open to all ages. Tweaks have been made that reduce the high impact on the body that running and jumping cause. Our Walking Netball programme runs during term time only.
Aside from the competitive aspect of the game, there is a huge focus on being social and staying connected within the community. You can often find our Walking Netball members at local cafes for a post-game debrief and coffee.
Nelson and Motueka Walking Netball groups take part in bi-annual exchanges. We are looking forward to building this core group of players, and sharing the inclusive message.
