Trafalgar Street Hall is a classic Kiwi community hall right in the city centre, used by all ages for various celebrations and regular activities such as yoga, pilates, tango and salsa, indoor bowls and tai chi.

Built in 1956, the hall boasts an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Maitai/Mahitahi River and township beyond, affording ample natural light and an attractive backdrop.

Trafalgar Street Hall is an easy walking distance to cafes, the library, sports grounds, bus routes, the i-SITE, hotels and motels.  The main hall includes a small raised proscenium arch stage, and comes equipped with a PA system, lectern, tables and chairs.  The hall’s large, well-equipped kitchen includes a pie-warmer, ovens, fridge and plenty of mismatched retro crockery.  It also contains a small meeting room, which can be booked separately.

The building also houses Ancestors Attic, the local archive for the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, for anyone interested in tracing their family history.
