Mental Health and Addictions Service – The White House is a Peer-Led Day Support Service, based in Nelson and managed and staffed by its members with the assistance of a Support Manager, for people with experiential knowledge of mental health and mental illness. We operate as a democratic members collective.
The programme of community group activities available at The White House includes a Monday morning cafe visit, a weekly outing, a weekly peer support discussion group and a weekly women’s group. Intermittent activities are also offered such as respite trips away from Nelson, social evenings, Breakfast Club and others.
Home-cooked meals can also be bought by members three days a week.
The White House provides some access to employment and training opportunities, computer and phone, TV and games.
Self-referrals can be made by people with experience of mental distress or who are using/have used, mental health services.
