Tapawera Community Centre is owned by the Tapawera & Districts Community Council. Historically it has been used as an Op Shop and community facility.

We are currently renovating the second building into the new Op Shop, due to open October 2026.

In addition, a Community bookshelf (with books and cd’s) operates alongside a food kete which offers donated produce; all items are free.

Outside, the Centre is home to the ‘Gateway to Kahurangi’, which is a very special blessed garden; a lovely place to take a moment to breath.

In the carpark there are two food carts which have become a community gathering point on fine days.

And to top it all off, the lovely little museum is a wee gem to explore.

Our site is fortunate to sit alongside the Village Green and rotunda; we really are in the heart of the village.

So whilst the main building is temporarily closed, as we work through seismic issues and a renovation programme, our spot is busy and active.
