Blind low vision provides its members with support / advice / one-to-one instruction and access to specialised equipment to enable them to maintain their independence, including adaptive technology.
We also provide volunteer help / social activities / talking book service / vocational support and guide dog services.
There is no cost to join – all that is required is a referral from an optometrist or eye specialist (some criteria relating to visual acuity & fields of vision must be met to qualify for membership) which is less than 6 months old. Application forms can be found on our website https://blindfoundation.org.nz and are also available through local optometrists, ophthalmologists and the hospital eye clinics.
We have two main Fundraising Appeals each year: Guide Dog Appeal (March) and Blind Week (October).
