The Nelson Regional Pool Association runs a Competition Round Robin of games from end of February through to October (depending on how many teams are registered to play).  These games are played on Monday nights starting around 7.30pm and finishing approximately 10pm.  All teams, consisting of eight players, have a pub or a club as their home base.

Each team of eight plays four games (frames) of doubles, followed by eight games of singles (ie; twelve games).  The draw for who plays who is set out where possible to give teams alternate home and away games.  There is a fee of $3 per player per game.  This money is used to keep the Association operating and a percentage is used at a finals night at the end of the season (usually held October/November).
