Christ Church Cathedral, Nelson, is the principal church of the Diocese of Nelson. It serves the needs of Cathedral parishioners as well as the wider church, the diocese and the city.
The Maori name for the hill on which the Cathedral stands is Pikimai, which means “come up hither”.
Our worship follows traditional Anglican patterns, although we also have less formal worship services.
Regular Sunday Services:
8am Holy Communion
10am Choral Eucharist
5.30pm Evensong (Except Sunday 1 and 22 December due to Carol Services at 7pm)
7pm Word and Worship, from mid February to the end of November
Weekday Services – During the week Holy Communion is celebrated each day at 12.15pm except Wednesday when it is at 10am and Saturday when it is at 8am.
The Cathedral is open to the Public from 9am until 6pm every day of the week all year round.
Visitors to Nelson and to Christ Church Cathedral are invited to join in the Services.
