The Choir sings at both the Sunday 10am Eucharist service and the Choral Evensong every Sunday at 5.30pm. The music sung at this service is reflective of the rich and varied musical traditions in the Anglican Church. The Choir are a welcoming and inclusive group who enjoy leading the people of Nelson City in traditional services of worship each Sunday.

Christ Church Cathedral Choristers – The Choristers are school students aged from 8 upwards who help lead the musical worship at the morning Eucharist service during term time. Younger Choristers attend the Cathedral’s Sunday School programme during the Eucharist service.
Choristers rehearse every weekday on a Thursday afternoon / evening and receive training in the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for Life syllabus. Choristers are eligible to receive annual Scholarships that recognise their skill development and contribution to worship at the Cathedral.
Christmas Services are always a highlight of the year for the Cathedral Choristers.
As well as having fun, being a Cathedral Chorister offers a high quality musical education and leads to a lifelong love of music and lasting friendships. Many Cathedral Choir singers in New Zealand have gone on to sing in some of New Zealand’s finest choirs, completed degrees in Music and made music a fulltime career.
