This discipline was introduced to Nelson Indoor Smallbore shooting as an experiment. The idea was that keen shooters, who were no longer able to shoot lying down could continue their sport by sitting to shoot.
As the name implies, the rifle is placed in rests on a bench and all the shooter has to do is line the sights up on the target and release the trigger. With telescope sights, pin point accuracy is achievable. Like, hitting a fly’s eye at 25 yards, or driving tacks with a bullet.
The group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 2pm at the Saxton Field Range. Club rifles are available, ammunition can be purchased and coaching is done by our top shooters shoot.
Membership ranges from under 20 to over 80. Wheelchair access is no problem.
