The Friends of the Nelson Library committee holds monthly book sales (first Saturday each month), selling withdrawn library books and magazines at Elma Turner Library 10am to 12.15pm. The revenue is funneled back into the libraries in a variety of ways.

We organise speakers – usually a series of  6-8 talks on a variety of interesting topics.  These are held in the Elma Turner Library, Nelson on the the third Sunday of a month, on a variety of interesting topics.

We fund items for the three Nelson Libraries eg. new toys and playmats for the children’s areas in Nelson, Stoke and Tahunanui, games for the young adult areas, special chairs for the large print areas, airfares and sometimes accommodation for speakers for Library events eg “Murder in the Library”.  We have a column in the Library Newsletter every month.

We hold relaxed committee meetings the third Wednesday of each month (10am) at Elma Turner Library.
