The Maitahi Outrigger Canoe Club aims to promote Waka Ama (outrigger canoeing) as a competitive team sport and as a recreational, social and cultural activity. The club has two six-person canoes and two two-person canoes and all of our equipment is owned. We offer a couple of free 'getting started' paddles with a good basic introduction to the sport and if you decide that this is the sport for you, we attempt to place you in a regular crew as seats become available or list you as someone who is prepared to fill in at short notice with a variety of crews. We have an excellent safety record and we provide a range of lifejackets as well as club paddles for all beginners.
