Description
The aim of Anahata Yoga Retreat is to create an enviroment conducive to self-development and spiritual growth.
ANAHATA YOGA RETREAT
Anahata Yoga Retreat is located on the top of a mountain 2 000 feet above sea level. There are fabulous views of the ocean and immediate access to the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. In your free time you may have opportunity to do some walking or hiking. Bring clothes for all occasions as the weather is very changeable.
The 13km road up to the Anahata Yoga Retreat is unsealed and crosses several small fords. Many people drive up in 2-WD cars but we are happy to meet you in Takaka to escort you up here or bring you up as a passenger. If you require us to pick you up please let us know at least a few days in advance.
YOGIC ENVIRONMENT KARMA YOGA AND MOUNA
Anahata Yoga Retreat is based on the principles of an Ashram or ôplace of workö. We strive to provide an environment for growth and personal development by maintaining a healthy and balanced atmosphere.
Please come prepared for a yogic life style. Our routine is simple but well tried and tested in retreat centres and ashrams around the world. Everyone is invited to participate in morning circle -8:15-8:30 and karma yoga cleaning from 8:30-9:30 (optional for guests) after which there are classes free time or more karma yoga.
Karma Yoga is an integral yogic practice and discipline described as ômindfulness meditation through actionö. Karma Yoga is ideally practiced in mouna or silence and provides an opportunity to examine ones mind emotions and action as well as contributing to Anahata Yoga Retreat.
Meals are prepared by a rostered cook. We have a closed kitchen so no private cooking is permitted. You will be rostered on for cooking duties kitchen cleanup (optional for guests).
The practice of Mouna (silence) occurs from 9pm-8:15am in order to give space for the mind to turn inwards and to go deeper into witnessing your thoughts and feelings. External silence will eventually lead to inner awakening.

DIRECTIONS
After crossing the Takaka Hill from Nelson you will drive towards and into Takaka. Turn right immediately past the Visitors Centre (don't go through Takaka!). Follow the road to the round-about and turn right. Drive towards Pohara Beach for about 10 minutes. The road curves on a big right and then a big left. When you pass Motopipi School turn right at the Clifton æTÆ crossroads. You will pass a big wooden giraffe type creature and then turn right. Follow this road to the next 'T' junction and turn left (you will see signs that say Clifton Road Grove Orchard Rocks World Beautiful Begonias). Now follow the road up to the top of the mountain. There are some shallow fords and various gates. Please leave the gates as you find them (closed if closed and left open if open). When you arrive at the top after approx. 30 minutes driving you will see a little sign on the right that says Abel Tasman - Wainui Hut. Keep on the same road you have been driving along (not the track up the hill to Wainui Hut!) and on your left you will see a house some gardens and a row of big pine trees. You have arrived. Welcome to Anahata Yoga Retreat!
