Description

Nikau house is a NMDHB drop in/resource centre available for those affected by mental illness.
To attend Nikau House you need to meet certain criteria :
Are adult (aged 18 years and over)
Have a primary diagnosis of mental illness
Do not have a primary diagnosis of intellectual disability organic brain syndrome or alcohol/drug dependancy
Are not in the acute stage of illness
Are under the care of Case Manager GP or other Mental Health professional.
Nikau is staffed by a mixture of health professionals and support workers and offers a fantastic and varied day programme which gets us out and about and also has a drop in component meaning people are able to use the Nikau House resources such as computers (with internet access) art materials a workshop and other in-house activities.
We also cook a meal each lunch time for a small cost. Nikau House also has a Wellness Service that supports members physical wellbeing.
