NICHE utilises a peer-based model to provide strategies for the minimisation of harm associated with injection drug use. We neither encourage nor condone intravenous drug use. Injecting drugs is a dangerous practice and the decision to use drugs in this way is yours. NICHE provides full NEP services, health service and health professional referral, peer based education and a range of resources aimed to minimise drug related harm. NICHE publishes a quarterly magazine containing articles relevant to drug related harm. We also provide education seminars on subjects relating to drug use including HIV and Hepatitis C infection risk, poly-drug use and warning signs for parents relating to early drug use. NICHE is a member of the Needle Exchange New Zealand Trust and receives the majority of its funding from Government sources.
