With the Sea Cadets you will become familiar with the Royal New Zealand Navy become skilled in meeting exacting standards of personal presentation develop and maintain safe seamanship skills in power sail oar and paddle craft learn the correct way to utilise ropes and pulleys gain the skills to survive on land and water know how to look after yourself and your team in the area of First Aid gain knowledge about the Royal New Zealand Navy its ships and equipment what it offers and how it assists New Zealanders develop skills in passing on knowledge to other Cadets find your way around harbours and the open coast become skilled in safe weapons handling and competition shooting develop the skills to lead others gain and practice correct military procedures when using radios achieve skills in a wide range of recreational activities (These could include such activities as sailing abseiling canoeing climbing and caving) get the opportunity to qualify on the Day Skipper and Boat Master courses with the Royal New Zealand Coast Guard and develop skills in maintaining inboard and outboard motors.
